Welcome to ToekomstTech

ToekomstTech ("Future Technology" in Dutch) is an Amsterdam-based hackerspace and co-working lab located at Louwesweg 1, Amsterdam West. We're a community of makers, engineers, designers, and curious people who share tools, knowledge, and a space to build things.

What we are

We're not a startup incubator, not a corporate co-working space, and not a school. We're a self-organised community. That means the space runs because members run it — fixing things that break, teaching skills to newcomers, organising events, writing wiki pages, and generally keeping the lights on together.

If you're expecting someone to hand you a schedule and tell you what to do, ToekomstTech might feel strange at first. But if you show up with a project in mind, some curiosity, and a willingness to contribute, you'll find it one of the most productive and inspiring places in the city.

The vision

We believe the best things get built by people who are in the same room. Collaboration happens in the gaps — at the coffee machine, over a workbench, when someone leans over and asks "wait, what are you making?" We're building a space where those moments happen every day.

We also believe that access to good tools and skilled peers shouldn't require a university affiliation or a corporate job. ToekomstTech exists to democratise that access for anyone who wants to build something real.

The space

Our home is a converted industrial unit in Amsterdam West, a 10-minute tram ride from Centraal Station. Inside you'll find:

  • A fabrication lab with 3D printers, laser cutters, and electronics workbenches
  • A woodworking area with hand tools and basic power tools
  • A common area for meetings, presentations, and informal chats
  • A kitchen with decent coffee, a fridge, and communal snacks (replace what you take)
  • Quiet work desks for when you need to focus

Getting involved

The best way to start is to show up. Come to an open evening (check the events page), meet some members, look around, and see if it feels right. If it does, ask any member to invite you for a trial period.

Read on in the Getting Started section for everything you need to know about joining and using the space.
